Description of VA LEP Maps
Note: The State of Virginia contains both counties and independent cities each acting as an independent statistical area. This map illustrates the LEP statistical areas of Virginia with pie charts of the top five LEP statistical areas: City of Alexandria-Pale Orange Shading Fairfax County-Dark Orange Shading Henrico County-Pale Orange Shading Loudoun County-Pale Orange Shading Prince William County-Pale Orange Shading Each statistical area is color shaded to indicate the total number of limited English proficient (LEP) persons in the statistical area. We have defined LEP persons as individuals five years and over who speak a language other than English at home and who have indicated that they speak English less than very well (LVW). For each of the top five LEP statistical areas, we have provided a pie chart that breaks down the top five languages spoken in the statistical area (according to the total number of each language spoken) with the remaining languages in a sixth category called “All Other Languages”. Raw Counts: The colors correspond to the total number of LEP individuals in the statistical area as follows: · Pale White: (<=1K) · Light Yellow: (>1K AND <=10K) · Pale Orange: (>10K AND <=50K) · Orange: (>50K AND <=100K) · Dark Orange: (>100K AND <=250K) · Brown: (>250K AND <=750K) · Dark Brown: (>750K) The statistical areas in Virginia are shaded to indicate the number of limited English proficient (LEP) persons in the statistical area. We have defined LEP persons as individuals five years or older who speak a language other than English at home and who have indicated that they speak English less than very well (LVW).
