This map illustrates the LEP parishes of Louisiana with pie charts of the top five LEP parishes: East Baton Rouge Parish-Pale Orange Shading Jefferson Parish-Pale Orange Shading Lafayette Parish-Light Yellow Shading Orleans Parish-Pale Orange Shading St Tammany Parish-Light Yellow Shading Each parish is color shaded to indicate the total number of limited English proficient (LEP) persons in the parish. We have defined LEP persons as individuals five years and over who speak a language other than English at home and who have indicated that they speak English less than very well (LVW). For each of the top five LEP parishes, we have provided a pie chart that breaks down the top five languages spoken in the parish (according to the total number of each language spoken) with the remaining languages in a sixth category called “All Other Languages”. Raw Counts: The colors correspond to the total number of LEP individuals in the parish as follows: · Pale White: (<=1K) · Light Yellow: (>1K AND <=10K) · Pale Orange: (>10K AND <=50K) · Orange: (>50K AND <=100K) · Dark Orange: (>100K AND <=250K) · Brown: (>250K AND <=750K) · Dark Brown: (>750K) The parishes in Louisiana are shaded to indicate the number of limited English proficient (LEP) persons in the parish. We have defined LEP persons as individuals five years or older who speak a language other than English at home and who have indicated that they speak English less than very well (LVW).
